What We Do at AllisonMay Care Service
At AllisonMay Care Service, we are committed to providing high-quality, personalised residential care for children and young people aged 8 to 17, particularly those with emotional, behavioural, and social challenges. We ensure straightforward, open, and honest communication with social workers, parents, and care professionals. This ensures that all parties are consistently updated on the children and young people’s progress, key milestones, and any areas requiring attention. Reports are provided weekly or monthly, depending on the children and young people’s needs and caregiver requests.

Collaboration with Families and Professionals
We support and facilitate all necessary contact meetings as outlined in the local authority’s children and young people care and placement plan. We work closely with families and professionals to ensure that the children’s and young people’s needs are met and that every step of the care plan is followed.
Family-Like Environment
At AllisonMay Care Service, we recognize the importance of maintaining a family-like atmosphere. We ensure that the children and young people in our care feel safe, supported, and comfortable. To keep this environment, we conduct thorough compatibility and impact risk assessments for all potential residents before admission. This helps us ensure that each young person’s needs align with our services and that they coexist harmoniously within the house.

Healthy Nutrition and Life Skills
Nutrition is an essential part of our care. We strive to provide healthy and nutritious meals to all our residents, supporting their physical well-being. We also focus on life skills development, teaching children and young people how to prepare simple meals, thus helping them build essential skills for their future independence.
Safety and Well-Being
Our top priority is the safety and well-being of every child and young person in our care. We have comprehensive systems in place to support all residents’ physical and emotional needs. For those who may require additional support, we have strong links with external professionals who can offer specialized services when needed.

Holistic Education Approach
Education is a central part of the care provided at Swan House, contributing to our holistic approach in meeting each young person’s needs. We recognise that many children placed with us have experienced disruption in their education and may require support to re-engage and succeed.
Swan House offers flexible and tailored educational packages based on the child’s abilities and academic history. We work in close partnership with Local Education Authorities (LEA) and Placing Authorities to identify the most appropriate education provision as soon as possible after admission. We are committed to ensuring that all children attend a registered education setting.
The home maintains strong links with local schools, colleges, and alternative providers in and around Surrey and neighbouring boroughs. These relationships help us secure placements that meet the educational, vocational, and therapeutic needs of the children in our care.
All young people at Swan House have access to at least 25 hours of education per week. Where necessary, the home can provide interim tuition and support through tutoring or home learning until a full-time placement is secured.
We aim to support young people in re-engaging with education, achieving accreditations, and transitioning into further education, training, or employment. Swan House staff will work closely with Virtual School Heads, Designated Teachers, and other professionals to ensure that each child’s Personal Education Plan (PEP) is followed and regularly reviewed.
Support During Transitions
We understand that moving into or out of a care setting can be a challenging experience. AllisonMay Care Service ensures that all transitions are managed thoughtfully and carefully, with a focus on the children’s and young people’s emotional well-being. We work closely with families, previous placements, and future caregivers to make these transitions as smooth and stress-free as possible, prioritizing the children’s voice and comfort throughout the process.
